This is a great solution Helmuti ! What should change though, is the category that child pages are placed in. If RSVPs are in the calendar category, it will mess up the listing of events of the calendar.
How about you place the RSVPs in a category called rsvp ?

I went ahead and did it. I also improved the javascript code, as it was previously too flexible on valid syntax. Now only dates are accepted in the year-month-day format (as words were considered valid syntax before).

as far as i can tell..
the object of the exercise is to create a "who is attending"
It is more than likely a person will be attending more than one event in a year.
the "sign up" page creator text has to be different in very event.
i sorta envisaged just entering a name in this box. But i cant do this because if i put phil chett in one box, on another page, if i do the same, that page already exists.
Hmm, this can be fixed with Autonumbering.
And if we had an Autosave feature, we'd be able to do just that. Enter Phil Chett and it will work.
I was thinking, what if, instead of the button saying “Sing Up”, it said “Respond” ?
That way, you can respond “James can't come”.

This is neccessary - if you think youo sit down and want to know - who has added a rsvp NEW entry ( without checking the last uodates I mean) .
creating a liist of "last responses" with a list of the events of course.
This needs an "autotagging" of teh events AND the rspv: autonumbered pages with the "events"-name.
Than we can create ListPages with teh same tags="=" …
Every time we enter teh event calender we can see who has posted/added his respones and for "what"..
This should work…
